Pathways to Reading Homeschool is a foundational reading curriculum that incorporates a sound-first approach while also implementing the principles of Orton-Gillingham based phonics instruction. Our systematic, explicit, and multi-sensory approach to phonemic awareness and phonics instruction helps prevent reading difficulties while also promoting a literature-rich environment for your child.
Our goal is to equip home educators with all the tools they need to confidently teach their child to read using our research-based curriculum, thoughtfully-created training videos, and online resources.
Our homeschool curriculum is adapted from Pathways to Reading, a curriculum used in schools and clinical settings for the last 20 years. Numerous research studies involving Pathways to Reading have demonstrated statistically significant results.

Founders
Terry Clinefelter
Terry Clinefelter is the author, creator, and founder of Pathways to Reading, Inc, a foundational reading curriculum used in hundreds of schools across the country. Terry has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Special Education, and a Master’s degree in Reading with with an emphasis on testing and diagnosis of reading problems. Terry’s classroom teaching experience includes preschool, EMH, and first grade. She also has 10 years of clinical experience, with clients ranging from kindergarteners to adults.
Terry began Pathways to Reading over 20 years ago and has been a pioneer in pairing research and evidence-based curriculum with state-of-the-art teacher training to ensure positive outcomes for students. Pathways to Reading has been implemented in both clinical and classroom settings and has shown significant results in student progress. Terry is passionate about helping teachers understand the reading process and implement the most outcome-oriented instructional techniques. She is committed to staying up-to-date on all of the latest research surrounding the science of reading and passing along that information to teachers and parents.
Terry and her husband Dennis reside in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and enjoy spending as much time as they can with their children and grandchildren. They have recently added a new member to their family, Mog the Cat, and are all adjusting accordingly.
Jenae Crowley
Jenae is a mother of three and former first grade teacher. As a first grade teacher, Jenae utilized Pathways to Reading in her classroom and saw outstanding success with all of her students. When deciding to homeschool her own first grade daughter, Jenae was so convinced that Pathways to Reading was the best foundational reading curriculum out there, she utilized the existing Pathways curriculum and ultimately ended up teaming up with Terry to adapt the curriculum and offer this amazing resource to homeschooling families.
Jenae is also the founder and creator of ICanTeachMyChild.com, a website for parents of children ages birth to age six. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and in 2008, she received her Master’s Degree in Education as well. Jenae is passionate about pointing her children to Christ and helping them become lifelong learners in the process.
Jenae, her husband, and their three children reside in Kansas along with their six chickens, one feisty rabbit, and a golden doodle named Lucy who is convinced she is human.
